Yet another comedy law is being put into place by the government to force ISPs to report anyone who is found downloading copious amounts of lawless pirate music or video.
Quite how they expect to enforce this is anyone's guess. Logging everyone's traffic would cost £billions, so that's unlikely. Logging downloads of certain file types IS possible, but there are too many holes. For example: if someone were to email a friend an mp3 of them singing 'their own song', this would be logged when it is completely legal.
Then there is the wifi-piggybacking issue, where non-techies accidentally and apparently non-knowingly end up using other people's wifi connections (ones which haven't been secured properly) and are simply detected and connected to by their pcs.
Please, can't they first find someone who actually knows something about the web into parlament, before trying to make laws on these things! 0 comments | 71 views
